Key Responsibilities and What You'll Be Doing:

  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Championing a "Zero Harm" culture, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and deploying environmental, safety, and wellbeing plans.
  • Product Safety: Maintaining the highest standards to ensure product conformance and fostering a strong product safety culture.
  • Quality: Driving for "Zero Defects" by collaborating across functions to minimise risks and ensure "right first time" product and service delivery.
  • Cost Management: Effectively managing people budgets, understanding and controlling cell cost centres, and implementing strategies to boost productivity and reduce expenses.
  • Delivery Excellence: Ensuring on-time delivery of products and services by optimising load and capacity, managing bottlenecks, and maintaining optimal WIP and inventory levels.
  • People Development: Building a flexible and capable team through effective training, motivation, and development, ensuring team members are empowered and effective.
  • Lean Principles: Leading the deployment and sustainment of the Production System, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and coaching the team in lean methodologies.
  • Leadership: Inspiring the manufacturing team to achieve high performance through facilitation, coaching, and demonstrating lean leadership behaviours, empowering individuals to make decisions.
  • Asset Optimisation: Maximising the performance of manufacturing assets to meet current and future demand, identifying constraints, and developing future state plans.
  • Digital Manufacturing: Leveraging digital systems and processes to manage performance, drive manufacturing activities, ensure compliance with digital standards, and communicate strategy to leadership.

What We're Looking For (Key Experiences and Qualifications):

  • A broad perspective, with exposure to diverse challenges and working methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering improved operational performance, even in challenging environments, by effectively leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience deploying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is highly valued. Green Belt accreditation or Lean Coach certification would be advantageous.
  • Management experience within the engineering industry is preferred, though not strictly essential.
  • Evidence of higher education and/or participation in leadership development programmes.
  • An appreciation for product integrity and a company-wide outlook.
