We seek a motivated Research Assistant to contribute to high-quality epidemiological studies investigating the effect of social policies and health systems on reducing health inequalities in Brazil and Ecuador. The post-holder will be part of the “NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Social and Environmental Determinants of Health Inequalities”, a collaboration between LSHTM, the University of Glasgow, and other universities in the UK, Brazil, and Ecuador. They will also be expected to contribute to research capacity-strengthening activities for social and environmental epidemiology and serve as the key liaisons to our international collaborators in Ecuador and Brazil.
The post-holder will be expected to have a first degree in the field of Epidemiology, Medical Statistics, or equivalent, with relevant experience in social and/or environmental epidemiology and demonstratable knowledge in advanced statistical methods (e.g., time series regression, binomial regression, Poisson regression, Cox regressions) and scientific academic writing. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed-term until 31 December 2026. The post is funded by the NIHR and is available from 01 March 2025.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 5 in the range of £39,432- £45,097 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this, there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
