Residential Experience Officer (Internal Only)

Job at University of Nottingham in Nottingham, Nottingham, NG7

Are you a current employee of the University of Nottingham looking for an exciting opportunity to shape the student experience? The Residential Experience team, a vital part of Student Living, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Residential Experience Officer to join their dynamic group. This role offers a chance to immerse yourself in the heart of campus life, fostering a vibrant and supportive community for students.

This is a fantastic position for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about creating memorable experiences. You'll be instrumental in delivering the ResX programme, contributing significantly to the overall student journey within the residential community.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Direct Impact on Student Life: This role places you at the forefront of student engagement, allowing you to build strong connections with residents, from individual interactions to leading engaging activities for large groups.
  • Develop a Diverse Skillset: You'll gain hands-on experience in a variety of areas including event planning and delivery, creative organization, and the supervision of student staff.
  • Collaborative and Autonomous Work: While you'll be an integral part of a supportive team, the role also encourages you to use your initiative and work independently within the defined responsibilities.
  • Gain Valuable Experience: This position is ideal for those looking to build a career in student experience, higher education administration, or event management. Experience with Office 365 and a creative approach to work are essential.
  • Campus Immersion: Work directly within student residences, experiencing the energy and dynamism of campus life firsthand.
  • Structured Working Pattern: The role is offered on a 40-week contract, with full-time hours (36.25 per week) primarily during term time to ensure optimal student coverage.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Flexibility is Key: This role demands adaptability. You'll need to be comfortable working in a dynamic setting, managing multiple tasks, and responding to the evolving needs of the ResX programme.
  • Weekend and Evening Work: The nature of supporting a residential community means that weekend and evening shifts are part of the 5-days-in-a-7-day rotation. This offers a unique work-life balance opportunity during term time.
  • Physical Demands: Be prepared for an active role that involves walking between sites, some lifting, and a significant amount of time spent standing during events.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: You'll be interacting with a range of internal and external stakeholders, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and in writing.
  • Desirable Skills: While not strictly mandatory, prior knowledge and experience in event planning, understanding learning environments, and a general passion for student experience will give you a strong advantage.
  • Internal Opportunity: Please note that this vacancy is exclusively open to current employees of the University of Nottingham.

This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the University of Nottingham's vibrant student community. If you are a proactive, enthusiastic individual with a passion for creating positive experiences, we encourage you to explore this role further.
