Are you looking for a rewarding career change within a supportive and dynamic team? This is an exceptional opportunity to join our Revenues and Benefit Contact Centre as a Customer Advisor 1. We are actively seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to fill two full-time permanent positions, offering a stable and long-term career path.

What This Role Offers You:

  • A Stable, Permanent Position: Secure your future with a full-time, permanent role in a vital public service.
  • Structured Working Hours: While flexible to meet service demands, the role operates on a standard 37-hour week. You'll experience alternating shifts, Monday to Thursday (either 8:30 am - 4:30 pm or 9:30 am - 5:30 pm) and Friday (either 8:30 am - 4:00 pm or 9:00 am - 4:30 pm), providing a degree of predictability.
  • Customer-Centric Environment: Be at the forefront of providing essential support and advice to residents and businesses, making a tangible difference in your community.
  • Comprehensive Training: For successful candidates, extensive training will be provided over several weeks at our County Hall, Beverley location. This ensures you are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to excel.
  • Career Progression: This role is part of a career-graded structure, starting as a Customer Advisor 1 (4b). With demonstrated commitment and meeting eligibility criteria, there's a clear pathway to advance to a Customer Advisor 2 (5a), fostering long-term professional development.
  • Flexible Working: Embrace a modern working approach with a blended Home & Office-based model. You'll be required to work at least 2 days every 4 weeks from our County Hall, Beverley office, while also benefiting from the flexibility of home working (a dedicated desk space will be required).

  • Exceptional Communication & Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and empathetically is paramount, especially when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Organizational Prowess: You'll need to manage your workload efficiently within a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidentiality & Discretion: Handling sensitive customer information requires a high level of trust and professionalism.
  • Adaptability & Teamwork: You'll be working collaboratively within a busy team, requiring commitment and flexibility to adapt to evolving needs and complex legislation.
  • Essential Technical Skills: Proficient keyboard skills are a must for navigating our systems efficiently.
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience with council tax, benefits, or council rents is considered essential and will significantly strengthen your application.
  • Advantageous Experience: While not essential, prior experience working in a busy telephone environment will be highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to High Standards: A dedication to delivering excellent customer service and meeting daily key performance indicators is crucial.
