Key Responsibilities & Career Growth:
As a Project Engineer, you will be instrumental in the successful delivery of engineering activities within your allocated project team. Reporting to the Construction Manager, your role will involve:
- Overseeing the delivery of construction requirements for UK Power Networks' assets and infrastructure.
- Collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders including Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, Commissioning Engineers, Alliance Partners, and Contractors to achieve project goals.
- Ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely construction and delivery of a portfolio of projects, including substation and cabling works.
- Championing UK Power Networks' "Stay Safe" initiative and adhering to all Health & Safety policies and procedures, including CDM regulations.
- Managing budgets, maintaining project documentation, and contributing to the ongoing Asset Portfolio Plan.
- Playing a key role in the testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high voltage (HV) distribution systems, control, and protection systems.
- Potentially acting as an Authorised Person (AP) / Senior Authorised Person (SAP) on site, managing site work and contractor compliance.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and proactive risk identification.
- Responding to system faults, which may involve unsocial hours.
What You Bring to the Table:
This role is ideal for an ambitious and skilled individual who possesses:
- Essential Qualifications & Experience: A minimum HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Experience in distribution systems ranging from 400V to 132kV. A working knowledge of HV Distribution Systems and Building Services Systems. The ability to read and understand schematic drawings. A full UK driving licence and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and other custom software. A relevant safety qualification (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH) and knowledge of Construction Design and Management Regulations are also crucial.
- Crucial Authorization: Possession of Senior Authorised Person status as defined by the Distribution Safety Rules is highly preferable (training can be provided to achieve this level if currently authorized at 11kV).
