WHAT TO EXPECT

JLR is at the forefront of automotive innovation, and our Prototype Vehicle Electricians are essential to that mission. Within our state-of-the-art Powertrain Test Facility, you'll be a key member of the team developing next-generation engines and electrified powertrains. This role demands a highly skilled and motivated individual with a passion for automotive technology and a meticulous approach to electrical systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to build and modify wiring harnesses for prototype vehicles and powertrain test rigs. Install and connect a wide range of electrical components, including sensors, actuators, ECUs, high-voltage systems, and data acquisition equipment. Ensure all installations meet JLR's stringent quality and safety standards. Utilise advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and rectify electrical faults in prototype vehicles and test rigs. Meticulously document all work carried out for traceability and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with an electrical bias. Proven experience as an automotive electrician, with a strong emphasis on diagnostics and problem-solving. Experience working in a research and development, prototype build, or testing environment is highly advantageous. Familiarity with data acquisition systems and a good understanding of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN) are highly desirable. A passion for automotive technology, a meticulous and methodical approach to work, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
